Business Impact Analysis
A
formal business impact analysis (BIA) quantifies the impacts to your
organization caused by the loss of one or more application systems and in turn
supported business processes, enabling you to quantify your downside and
identify suitable solutions to protecting those application systems.
In addition to
detailing all business impacts across numerous categories (financial, product
and service delivery, employee productivity, regulatory, supply chain, etc.),
our BIA service identifies relationships between application systems and
business processes, financial exposure (where quantifiable), short-term
contingency and work around actions in the absence of an application system, and
fine-tune the all important recovery time and recovery point objectives (RTO and
RPO) metrics. The end result is a BIA report for high-level consumption, and
population of all salient information into your Web Planner site.
Smaller
organizations with a finite number of application systems often already know
what’s important and what’s not, and may choose to simply use Web Planner’s
intuitive fill-in-the-blanks approach to recording impacts and metrics (with our
without our assistance).
Larger
organizations with many applications and business processes on the other hand,
may find it difficult to assess relative impacts resulting from their loss, and
desire a BIA to untangle the web of complexity associated with properly
prioritizing application recovery. In addition, they may be compelled by
oversight agencies, external auditors or audit committees, to undertake a formal
BIA on a periodic basis.
